Irsay Returns To Colts Front Office

Last updated on Friday, May 9, 2014

(INDIANAPOLIS) - Jim Irsay is back. The Colts owner has been out of the public eye since his arrest seven weeks ago for driving while impaired.

The team announced two days later he'd voluntarily checked himself into a treatment facility.

Irsay's freewheeling Twitter account had been dormant since his arrest except for a single retweet. He broke his silence with a trio of tweets late Thursday night from the team's war room for the NFL draft.

Irsay thanked Colts fans for their "love and support," and tweeted, "Really missed you guys! Your kindness will never be forgotten!"

The Colts didn't have a first-round pick, but will swing into action with Friday's second round.

Irsay's reemergence comes a day after the Indiana Sports Corporation announced Irsay will make Indy's presentation at the NFL owners' meeting May 19-21 as the city makes its pitch for the 2018 Super Bowl.

Police say Irsay was driving extremely slowly and sometimes stopping in the middle of the roadway when he was pulled over in Carmel. Officers say they found various prescription drugs in the vehicle.

Hamilton County prosecutors say they're still waiting on blood test results before deciding whether to file formal charges.
