(UNDATED) - The following is a wrapup of regional baseball matchups from Tuesday.
(Cleveland, OH) - The Cleveland Indians halted a two-game skid with an 8-6 victory over the San Diego Padres at Progressive Field.
David Murphy hit a three-run home run and drove in four runs with Nyjer Morgan adding two R-B-I for Cleveland.
Starter Corey Kluber went six innings, allowing three runs on nine hits while striking out eight to even his record at 1-and-1. Jed Gyorko drove in three runs for San Diego with Xavier Nady adding a solo homer, his first of the season.
(Chicago, IL) - Russell Martin's sacrifice fly in the top of the eighth inning was the difference as the Pittsburgh Pirates got past the Chicago Cubs 7-6.
Pedro Alvarez and Travis Ishikawa drove in two runs apiece as the Pirates were able to overcome Cubs shortstop Starlin Castro's first career two-homer game. Castro hit a three-run home run off Pittsburgh starter Charlie Morton in the third and added a solo shot off Morton in the sixth.
Reliever Tony Watson got the win for the Pirates with Pedro Strop taking the loss for the Cubs.
(St. Louis, MO) - Matt Holliday hit a go-ahead two-run double in the sixth inning as the St. Louis Cardinals came from four runs down to defeat the Cincinnati Reds 7-5.
The Reds scored four times in the first two innings before St. Louis came back to tie the game with four runs in the bottom of the second with Kolten Wong's two-run triple knotting the game.
A Ryan Ludwick R-B-I groundout gave Cincinnati a 5-4 lead before Holliday's double the next inning gave the Cardinals the lead for good.
Brownsburg native Lance Lynn allowed five runs over six innings, but that was good enough for him to improve to 2-and-0 on the season.
(Denver, CO) - Rookie Jose Abreu hit his first two Major League home runs and drove in five as the Chicago White Sox pounded the Colorado Rockies 15-3.
Avisail Garcia also went deep twice for the Sox, driving in three runs. Alexei Ramirez and Tyler Flowers added solo shots with Flowers, Marcus Semien and Dayan Viciedo driving home two runs apiece.
Jose Quntana was the beneficiary of Chicago's offensive outburst, allowing two runs on five hits over seven innings to improve to 1-and-0. Troy Tulowitzki drove in two runs and Michael Cuddyer added a solo homer for Colorado.
