(UNDATED) - The following is a wrapup of regional baseball matchups from Sunday.
(Atlanta, GA) - It was a pitching duel from the start, pitting the Reds Johnny Cueto against the Braves' Julio Teheran.
Both pitchers exceeded expectations, Cuedo going 8 frames and allowing only 3 hits and no runs, while striking out 11, and Teheron also pitching 8 innings and only giving up 3 hits with zero runs, while striking out 5.
The clubs battled so evenly matched all the way to the bottom of the 10th inning, where Freddie Freeman hit a 2 out walk off single to win it for the Braves. With the win, Atlanta sweeps the series 3 games to none.
(Milwaukee, WI) - The Chicago Cubs, losers of 4 straight, came into the game with determination to win on their minds.
Starting pitcher Jason Hammel's mindset transferred to the field as Hammel took a no-hitter into the 6th inning against the league leading Brewers. He finished allowing just 3 hits over 7 innings, as he struck out 7 batters.
Starlin Castro was the man of the day on offense, as he backed Hammel with 2 solo homeruns, the second time he's hit multiple homers this season.
The Cubs finished by beating the Brewers of 4-0.
(St. Louis, MO) - Adam Wainwright was dominant against the division rival Pirates.
The right hander delivered 8 strong innings of work for the Cards, giving up just 3 hits and no runs, while striking out 7 to help the Cardinals take the rubber match of a 3 game series.
With the win, Wainwright became the first pitcher in the league to reach 5 wins on the season, his record is 5-1 in 6 appearances.
While Adam was dominant on defense, Peralta was just what the doctor ordered on offense, hitting 2 homeruns, with 4 RBI's to solidify the victory for the Cards, as they muscled past the Pirates with by a final score of 7 to 0.
(Chicago, IL) - Jose Abreu is quickly becoming a household name in the local Chicago area, matter of fact the rookie is turning heads nationally at a stunning rate.
After finishing off the Rays with a walk off Grand slam on Friday. Abreu hit his league leading 10th homerun of the season yesterday, while batting in 4, to help power the Whitesox to a 9-2 victory over the Rays.
With the 4 runs batted in Abreu has broken the record for most RBI's by a rookie in April with 31, the previous record held by Albert Pujols, with 27.
From the mound, the Whitesox couldn't have asked for more, from starting pitcher Scott Carroll, who went 7.1 innings giving up 6 hits but just 2 runs, for his first major league win, in his first major league start of his career.
(San Francisco, CA) - Another pitching duel went down, as the Indians traveled to California to take on the Giants.
Starting pitchers Danny Salazer for Cleveland and Ryan Vogelsong for San Fransisco, both struggling on the season, combined to allow just 7 hits and 1 run over 14 innings of work with 14 strikeouts.
After the Indians tied things up at 1 a piece in the 8th on a Yan Gomes homer, the Giants answered in the bottom half of the 9th, when Brandon Hicks hit a 3 run walk off homer to give the Giants a 4-1 win, and a 3-0 series sweep of the Indians.
The Giants improve to 15 and 10 on the season, while the Indians drop to 11 and 14.
