(Indianapolis, IN) - Jacques Villeneuve will return to the Indianapolis 500 this May, according to a published report.
The Indianapolis Star reports on its website that Villeneuve will drive a third car for Schmidt Peterson Motorsports.
The team has called a news conference for Wednesday afternoon to announce "the addition of a major championship-winning driver to its lineup for the 98th running of the Indianapolis 500".
The 42-year-old Villeneuve won the 500 in 1995, coming from two laps down to pull off the victory. He won the CART Series championship that same year before leaving for Formula One in 1996. He was the World Drivers' Champion for Williams in 1997.
