Austin Dillion Claims Daytona Pole

Last updated on Tuesday, February 18, 2014

(Daytona Beach, FL) The front row for the 56th Running of the Daytona 500 has been locked in.

Following yesterday's Qualifications, rookie Austin Dillion put his #3 machine on the Pole with an average speed of 196.019 MPH. He'll be joined by Martin Truex Jr. in the #78 car, who clocked in with an average speed of 195.852 MPH.

The rest of the Starting Grid will be determined on Thursday Night's Budweiser Duels, where drivers will have to race their way into next Sunday's Daytona 500.

It might be the last season for one Hall of Fame NASCAR driver, Jeff Gordon.

Gordon said in an Interview this week that if he were to win his 5th championship, that he would retire.

Gordon later went on to say that he was jokingly serious but if it did happen, he would definitely have to think about it.
