Last updated on Tuesday, January 21, 2014

(Bloomington, IN) - Indiana University football coach Kevin Wilson announced the hiring of Brian Knorr as the Hoosiers’ new defensive coordinator.

Knorr has spent the past three seasons as the defensive coordinator at Wake Forest.

Knorr has 23 years of college coaching experience, including serving as head coach for the Ohio Bobcats from 2001 through 2004.

He replaces Doug Mallory, who was relieved of his duties on January 10th.

Mallory, the son of former IU head coach Bill Mallory, served as the Hoosiers' assistant head coach and defensive coordinator the past three seasons.

Indiana finished last in the Big Ten in defense each of those three seasons.

In 2013, the Hoosiers allowed just under 39 points per game and ranked 120th out of 123 FBS teams in total defense.
