(Boston, MA) - The Boston Red Sox had no trouble with the ace of the St. Louis Cardinals, dominating Adam Wainwright in an 8-1 win in game 1 of the World Series.
The Cardinals were uncharacteristically sloppy, committing 3 errors in the game.
Wainwright lasted only 5 innings, allowing 6 hits and 3 earned runs in taking the loss.
Boston starter Jon Lester was dominant, striking out 8 and not allowing a run in 7 2/3 innings of work.
Game two is tonight.
