Last updated on Monday, October 7, 2013

(Houston, TX) - Three-time Indianapolis 500 winner Dario Franchitti and 14 others were injured in a vicious crash at the end of Sunday’s Grand Prix of Houston.

Franchitti suffered a broken back and ankle and a concussion in the crash, which occurred after the Scottish driver launched over Takuma Sato's car into a catch fence.

Thirteen fans and a series official were injured by debris from the crash that went into the stands.

Team Penske's Will Power won the race with Scott Dixon finishing second.

Dixon took over the series points lead due to a second-straight dreadful day from Power's teammate Helio Castroneves.

The three-time Indianapolis 500 winner had a gearbox problem and finished 23rd.

Castroneves now trails Dixon by 25 points with one race to go in the season, after coming into the weekend with a 49 point lead.
