Cardinals One Loss Away From Elimination

(Pittsburgh, PA) - The Pittsburgh Pirates rallied for two 8th inning runs to push past the St. Louis Cardinals in a crucial 5-3 win in game three of the National League Division Series.

Pedro Alvarez drove in the go-ahead run with a single, that scored Josh Harrison. Catcher Russell Martin followed with an insurance single that drove in the final run.

Mark Melancon earned the win, despite allowing a tying-home run to Carlos Beltran in the eighth inning.

Jason Grilli picked up the save. Rookie Carlos Martinez took the loss.

The Pirates are now one win away from their first postseason series win since the 1979 World Series.
