(Cincinnati, OH) - Mike Leake and four relievers combined on a six-hit shutout as the Cincinnati Reds blanked the Chicago Cubs 6-0.
The Reds scored twice off Chicago starter Jeff Samardzija in the second on RBI groundouts from Xavier Paul and Zach Cozart.
Devon Mesoraco hit a solo homer off Samardzija in the fourth and pinch-hitter Jack Hannahan chased Samardzija with a three-run blast in the sixth.
Leake allowed four hits over five and two-thirds innings to improve to 13-6 as Cincinnati avoids being swept at home in the three-game series.
Samardzija falls to 8-12.
