Indy Cars Set To Run IMS Road Course In 2014

Last updated on Friday, September 27, 2013

(Speedway, IN) For the first time in nearly 100 years, IndyCars will take to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in a race that isn’t the famous Indianapolis 500.

Thursday, the speedway's board of directors voted to hold a road course race at the Brickyard next May, as a lead-in to the 98th Indianapolis 500.

The road race is scheduled for the weekend of May 10-11, although the final details have not been released.

The last time an IndyCar race was held at the Speedway that wasn't the 500, was the 1916 Harvest Auto Classic, which was held on the oval.
