(Indianapolis, IN) - The Indianapolis Colts are preparing for Sunday’s season-opener against the Oakland Raiders, but they still don’t officially know what quarterback is starting for the Silver & Black.
Oakland coach Dennis Allen says he isn't planning to announce a starter for "competitive" reasons, but several reports indicate Allen has chosen former Ohio State star Terrelle Pryor to start over veteran Matt Flynn.
For the second straight day, the Colts have pulled off a trade. Tuesday, the Horseshoes dealt linebacker Caesar Rayford to the Dallas Cowboys in exchange for a conditional draft pick.
Rayford was originally signed by the Colts as a free agent in May. He became a preseason sensation totaling 11 tackles, 5 sacks and two forced fumbles in the four games.
Rayford's spot on the roster has been filled by tight end Dominique Jones who was promoted from the practice squad to the active roster.
The Colts have cut ties with rookie John Boyett, one day after the injured safety was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct, public intoxication and resisting law enforcement.
Boyett spent the entire preseason on the reserve / non-football injury list due to knee problems.
According to police, Boyett reportedly threatened an officer and told additional officers, "you can't arrest me; I'm a Colts player".
