(Chicago, IL) - Henderson Alvarez picked up the win and provided his own offense as the Miami Marlins got past the Chicago Cubs 4-3.

Christian Yelich gave the Marlins a 1-0 lead when he homered in the first off Cubs starter Travis Wood.

Chicago responded with three runs in the bottom of the first on RBI singles by Anthony Rizzo and Dioner Navarro and a sacrifice fly by Nate Schierholtz.

Alvarez put Miami ahead to stay with a three-run shot off Wood in the second.

It was Alvarez' first Major League home run. He would go six innings to move to 3-3.
