NASCAR Returns To Michigan This Weekend

Last updated on Friday, August 16, 2013

(Brooklyn, MI) - NASCAR’s Sprint Cup Series returns to Michigan International Speedway with four-races to go until the Chase for the Sprint Cup begins.

Greg Biffle won last year's race at the two-mile oval and is solid in NASCAR's playoff system at ninth in points with one-win this season.

Jimmie Johnson is the current points leader, with Indiana drivers Jeff Gordon and Ryan Newman on the outside of making the Chase with an automatic bid at 13th and 14th in points.

Former truck champion Austin Dillon has been chosen to drive for the injured Tony Stewart, who is out indefinitely with a broken leg.

Qualifying is this afternoon and the Pure Michigan 400 is Sunday at 1:00.
