West Close To Returning To Pacers

Last updated on Wednesday, July 3, 2013

(Indianapolis, IN) - The Indiana Pacers are rapidly closing in on a final roster for the upcoming season.

The team is reportedly finalizing a deal that would pay David West 36-million dollars over the next three years, with a player option in the third year.

The 32-year old power forward was the Pacers' top re-signing priority in the offseason.

He averaged 17 points and 7.7 rebounds last year in co-anchoring the Pacers frontcourt with center Roy Hibbert.

The deal cannot be finalized until July 10th, when a league wide moratorium on free agent signings is lifted.

ESPN reported yesterday that the Pacers rescinded their qualifying offer to Tyler Hansbrough, making the backup power forward an unrestricted free agent.

The decision comes one day after Hansbrough was made a restricted free agent by the Pacers, allowing the Pacers to match any offers he gathered on the open market.
