Mariners Hold Off Indians Late Rally Attempt

(Seattle, WA) - In the American League, the Seattle Mariners held off a late comeback attempt by the Cleveland Indians to win 4-3 at Safeco Field Tuesday.

Drew Stubbs was caught in a run down and tagged out in the ninth inning while trying to score the tying from third.

Zach McAllister made his first start for Indians since June second and was charged with the loss after giving up three runs in five innings pitched.

The Indians are 52-48 and trail the Detroit Tigers by three and-a-half games for first place in the division.

They place Seattle this afternoon at 3:40.
