Grand Slam Helps Reds Top Cubs

Last updated on Tuesday, June 11, 2013

(CHICAGO) - In the National League Monday, Brandon Phillips hit a grand slam in the third inning and finished with six-RBIs during the Cincinnati Reds 6-to-2 win over Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field.

Phillips gave the Reds a 1-to-nothing lead in the first inning by driving in Zach Cozart on a base hit to right field, then cleared the bases in the third with his tenth home run of the season off of Cubs starter Scott Feldman.

Phillips's grand-slam tied Joe Morgan for most home runs by a Reds' second baseman at 152, and his six-RBIs surpassed the hall of famer for most RBIS by a Cincinnati second baseman at 615.

The Cubs host the Reds tonight at 8:05.
