(Indianapolis, IN) - In college football, plans to realign the two divisions in the Big Ten Conference will likely meet resistance from some of its member schools, given the disparity in power when the changes are applied in 2014.

The plans were leaked by Monday, and citing unnamed sources, revealed the conference's decision to do away with the "Leaders" and "Legends" divisions in favor of the geographically accurate "East" and "West" divisions.

Indiana University would be matched against traditional football powerhouses like Ohio State, Michigan, Michigan State, and Penn State in the East, while Purdue faces Wisconsin, Nebraska and Northwestern as the only teams with winning records in the previous three seasons.

Conference members are expected to vote on the changes later this week.
