Purdue Can't Hold On As Burke Leads Michigan To Victory

Last updated on Thursday, March 7, 2013

(West Lafayette, IN) - The number-eight Michigan Wolverines are still in the running for a share of the Big-Ten title after storming back to beat the Purdue Boilermakers, 80-75 at Mackey Arena in West Lafayette.

The Wolverines can repeat as co-conference champions by defeating the first place Indiana Hoosiers in the regular season finale Sunday afternoon.

Terone Johnson scored the Boilermakers' last six points to keep his team close down the stretch, but Trey Burke made seven-of-eight free throws in the last minute to preserve the win for Michigan.

Johnson's career high 32 points was offset by five turnovers by the Junior guard and a 26 point, seven assist night by Burke.

Michigan and the Ohio State Buckeyes are tied for second in the Big Ten at 12-5 and trail the Hoosiers by one game for first in the conference.

The Michigan State Spartans and Wisconsin Badgers are both a game and-a-half behind Indiana for the conference lead.

The Boilermakers are 14-16 overall, 7-10 in the conference, and conclude the regular season at home Saturday against the Minnesota Golden Gophers.
