Pacers Survive Hawks Late Rally To Pick Up Win

Last updated on Tuesday, March 26, 2013

(Indianapolis, IN) The Indiana Pacers held off a late charge by the Atlanta Hawks to preserve a 100-94 win Monday night at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.

The Hawks trailed by 22 points at the start of the fourth-quarter, but used a makeshift lineup of bench players to cut the lead to four with under a minute to play in the game.

Gerald Green made a 3-pointer with thirty-four seconds remaining and later converted three-of-four free throw attempts to lead the Pacers to a third consecutive home win.

Green was a late addition to the starting lineup Monday night after head coach Frank Vogel scratched George Hill right before tipoff because of a strained left groin.

The reserve point guard scored 17 of his 19 points in the fourth quarter in relief of Hill, who joined David West, Lance Stephenson, and Danny Granger on the bench because of injuries.

Indiana are 44-27 and lead the New York Knicks by a half game for the second best record in the East.

Indiana begin a four game Western Conference road trip against the Houston Rockets Wednesday night.
