Last updated on Friday, March 22, 2013

(UNDATED) - In racing this weekend, the IZOD Indycar series opens the season on the winding streets of St. Petersburg while NASCAR heads to Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, California.

Ryan Hunter-Reay is the reigning Indycar champion when practice begins today for the Honda Grand Prix of St. Petersburg.

Helio Castroneves won last year's race at the 14-turn, 1.8 mile street course, giving Team Penske a track leading five wins at St. Petersburg.

Qualifying is Saturday and the race begins Sunday at 12:30.

Kasey Kahne jumped seven spots in the Sprint Cup standings after winning the Food City 500 last weekend at Bristol Motor Speedway.

Kahne is seventh in points and has led the most laps of any driver this season at 223 heading into Sunday's race at Auto Club Speedway.

Points leader Brad Keselowski finished 18th in last year's race at the two mile oval, the highest in three career races, and Tony Stewart won the race for the first time in his career.

Drivers will qualify tonight and race Sunday at 3:30.
