Hoosier Teen Selected To Race In Indy Lights Freedom 100

Last updated on Thursday, March 28, 2013

(INDIANAPOLIS) - A Roncalli High School Senior gets to experience a dream come true at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Carb Day.

Kyle O'Gara has been chosen by Sarah Fisher Hartman Racing to drive in the Indy Lights Freedom 100 on May 24th. The 18-year old O'Gara will make his Firestone Indy Lights debut on the world famous oval.

O'Gara is no rookie to racing though. He first got behind the wheel of a go-kart at the age of 4, and has been racing ever since. He's currently ranked 5th in the nation in the USAC midget series.

O'Gara says many things will carry over from USAC to Indy Lights, but he says the downforce on the Indy Lights cars will take some getting used to.

O'Gara will definitely not be alone at the race either. One of his sponsors, SportEvents, has provided all Roncalli High School students, and faculty, with tickets to the race.
