Sycamores Second Half Comeback Falls Short

(Springfield, MO) - The Indiana State Sycamores fell out of the Missouri Valley Conference lead after a second half comeback fell short against the Missouri State Bears, 67-65 at J.Q.H. Arena in Springfield, Missouri.

The Sycamores trailed the entire second half and sunk into a 14 point deficit with under nine minutes left in the game.

Lucas Eitel started an 11-2 run for Indiana State by making a 3-pointer with eight minutes to go, and cut the Missouri State lead to 58-57 by making another 3-pointer with 2:43 to play.

ISU was unable to recapture the lead down the stretch and the Bears made five-of-six free throw attempts with under 30 seconds to go in closing out the Sycamores.

Jake Odum led all scorers with 21 points, nine rebounds, and seven assists and Manny Arop had 15 points for the Sycamores.

Marcus Marshall scored 19 points and went 7-7 from the free throw line for Missouri State and Christian Kirk had 14 points off the bench.

Sycamores trail the conference leaders by a half game and have lost five of their last six games on the road.

Indiana State is 16-9 overall, 9-5 in conference, and play at the Bradley Braves Saturday afternoon
