Grigson Named NFL Executive Of The Year

Last updated on Tuesday, January 29, 2013

(Indianapolis, IN) - Indianapolis Colts General Manager Ryan Grigson has been named The Sporting News NFL Executive of the Year.

Grigson engineered the Colts remarkable turnaround from a two win team in 2011 to a playoff entrant last season.

He was hired away from an executive position with the Philadelphia Eagles to take over for the Polian regime.

Team owner, Jim Irsay, elected to purge the front office after the Colts disastrous season, which included the termination of General Manager, Chris Polian, and team President, Bill Polian.

Grigson selected Chuck Pagano of the Baltimore Ravens to coach the team and drafted Stanford quarterback, Andrew Luck, with the first overall draft pick in 2012.

He also assembled a Colts playoff roster that was absent of many franchise players, including quarterback Peyton Manning and tight end Dallas Clark.

The NFL Executive of the Year award is voted on by coaches and executives across the league.
