Hoosiers Lose Etherington For The Season With Knee Injury

Last updated on Monday, December 10, 2012

(Indianapolis, IN) - The top-ranked Indiana Hoosiers will be without sophomore forward Austin Etherington for the remainder of the season.

Etherington suffered a fractured left kneecap during IU's 100-69 victory over Central Connecticut State on Saturday night.

He was guarding Central Connecticut State's Terrell Allen late in the first half when the two players appeared to bump knees as Allen drove to the basket.

Etherington collapsed to the floor and was removed from the arena on a stretcher.

The Hamilton Heights High School product underwent surgery Sunday morning in Indianapolis.

Etherington played in seven of Indiana's nine games this season, averaging just under two points per game.
