Boilermakers Set To Battle Cowboys In Heart Of Dallas Bowl

Last updated on Monday, December 31, 2012

(Dallas, TX) - The Purdue Boilermakers will put the finishing touches on a turbulent season when they play the Oklahoma State Cowboys tomorrow in the Heart of Dallas Bowl.

Head Coach Danny Hope was dismissed following the regular season finale against Indiana after the team posted a 6-6 record instead of challenging for the Big Ten Championship as expected.

Purdue Athletic Director Morgan Burke signed Darrell Hazel from Kent State University, who led the Golden Flashes to a 16-9 record over two seasons in a remarkable turnaround for the program.

Wide receivers coach Patrick Higgins has called plays on offense for the Boilermakers the last three weeks and will be the interim head coach for tomorrow's game in Dallas.

Oklahoma State has conversely enjoyed an era of stability under eight year Head Coach Mike Gundy, but are completing a subpar season according to recent program standards.

Oklahoma State finished 7-5 after winning at least nine games in their last four seasons and were expected to compete in a more prestigious bowl come January.

Kickoff tomorrow from the Cotton Bowl is at 1:00.
