(Washington DC) - The Washington Nationals and St. Louis Cardinals will play a game five in the division series after Jayson Werth hit a walk off homer for a 2-1 Nationals win.

Brownsburg's Lance Lynn engaged Werth for a dozen pitches until the Nat's right fielder clubbed the thirteenth pitch over the left field wall at Nationals Park.

The theatrical 2-1 victory allows the Nationals to play-on in the division series and potentially eliminate last season's champions of baseball in game five today.

Washington jumped out to a 1-to-nothing lead when Adam LaRoche homered off Kyle Loshe in the second inning.

Loshe was dominant after that, handcuffing the Nationals lineup during his seven innings of two hit ball.

The Cardinals tied it in the third when Carlos Beltran scored rookie Pete Kozma with a sacrifice fly to center field.

Brownsburg's other pitcher in the game, Drew Storen, earned the decision for his two strikeout performance in the ninth inning.

Game five features a pitching rematch between the Cardinals Adam Wainwright and Gio Gonzalez.

Wainwright allowed a run and struck out ten during the Cardinals series opening loss, and Gonzalez was nearly as effective in allowing two runs in five innings pitched.

Game five begins at 8:37 at Nationals Park. The winner advances to the National League Championship Series.
