Rolen's Later Error Hands Giants Game Three Win

Last updated on Wednesday, October 10, 2012

(Cincinnati, OH) - The Cincinnati Reds were pressed into a division series game four after a tenth inning error by Scott Rolen led to a 2-1 defeat at the hands of the San Francisco Giants.

The eight time gold glove winner bobbled an awkward grounder to third base that allowed Joaquin Arias to beat the throw to first and Buster Posey to score the go-ahead run.

Homer Bailey was dynamic in his seven innings pitched at Great American Ballpark, striking out ten while holding the 2010 league champions to one run.

Reds ace Johnny Cueto has been ruled out for game four in Cincinnati this afternoon. Cueto was removed in the first inning of the series opener after suffering a mild oblique strain.

He was relieved by Mat Latos, who held the Giants to one run in his four innings pitched.

Giants manager Bruce Bochy will start Barry Zito, who finished the regular season with 15 wins and an ERA of 4.15. First pitch at Great American Ballpark today is at 4:07.
