(Indianapolis, IN) The Indiana Fever are champions of basketball after clinching the best of five WNBA Finals last night with an 87-78 win in game four at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.

Tamika Catchings led all scorers with 25 points and finally has a WNBA title to accompany her three gold medals and NCAA championship from her days at Tennessee.

The Fever accomplished the extraordinary in their series win over the defending champion Lynx, capturing the title without the sharpshooting of Katie Douglas.

The former Boiler great missed the entire Finals with a severely sprained ankle and was the Fever's top scorer in the playoffs until she was injured during the closeout game against the Connecticut Sun.

Coach Lin Dunn inserted Douglas into the lineup with three seconds left in the fourth period to a huge ovation by the fifteen-thousand fans on hand in Indianapolis.

The win also gives Indianapolis its first pro basketball title since 1973, when the Pacers defeated the Kentucky Colonels in a seven game series to win the American Basketball Association championship.
