Giants Rough Up Cardinals To Even Up NLCS

(San Francisco, CA) - The San Francisco Giants used a hard slide as motivation in their 7-1 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals, tying the National League Championship Series at a game apiece.

Matt Holliday slid hard into Giants second baseman Marco Scutaro in the first inning, injuring Scutaro's hip.

Angel Pagan gave San Francisco a 1-0 lead with a solo home run off Chris Carpenter in the bottom of the first.

Carpenter tied it with an RBI double in the second, but the Giants took command in the fourth, scoring four runs.

Scutaro capped the big inning with a two-run single before leaving in the fifth inning due to his injury.

Ryan Theriot added a two-run single in the eighth.

Ryan Vogelsong went seven innings, allowing a run on four hits to get the win while Carpenter takes the loss.

Game Three is Wednesday afternoon in St. Louis.
