Last updated on Monday, October 15, 2012

(Charlotte, NC) - Clint Bowyer held off his chase rivals to win by the Bank of America 500 by half-a-second at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Bowyer conserved enough fuel over the final 56 laps to cross the finish line ahead Denny Hamlin by .417 seconds and advance one spot to fourth in the points standings.

Brad Keselowski's lead over Jimmie Johnson for first in points shrunk to seven after he ran out of gas for an eleventh place finish.

Tony Stewart dropped to eighth in points after a thirteenth place finish, and Jeff Gordon tumbled to ninth in points after finishing eighteenth.

The Chase for the Sprint Cup is down to five races, and resumes next weekend at Kansas Speedway for the Hollywood Casino 400.
