(Cincinnati, OH) - Cincinnati’s magic number for clinching the NL Central is down to eight after the Reds beat the Pittsburgh Pirates 2-1.

Wilson Valdez drove in the Reds' first run with an RBI groundout in the third.

Pittsburgh tied the game in the fourth when Andrew McCutchen scored on Gaby Sanchez' single off Cincinnati starter Homer Bailey.

In the bottom of the sixth, Ryan Ludwick led off with a double, advanced to third on Jay Bruce's flyout to center and scored on Scott Rolen's sacrifice fly to left.

Bailey allowed a run on six hits over seven innings to move to 11-9.

Pittsburgh starter AJ Burnett allowed two runs on five hits over six to drop to 15-7.

The Reds' lead over St. Louis is up to eleven and a half games in the Central.
