Padres Use Big Fourth Inning To Clip Cardinals

(San Diego, CA) - The San Diego Padres scored five runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to get past the St. Louis Cardinals 6-4.

The Cardinals held a 2-0 lead when the Padres had their big inning.

Logan Forsythe gave San Diego the lead for good with a two-run double off St. Louis starter Adam Wainwright.

Alexi Amarista would cap the big inning with a two-run triple.

David Freese would hit a solo home run for the Cardinals in the seventh, his 19th of the season.

Wainwright allowed five runs, only two of which were earned, over six innings as he falls to 13-13.

Edinson Volquez gets the win for the Padres, allowing two earned runs in his five and a third innings of work to even his record at 10-10.

San Diego has won three games in a row.
