NFL Reaches Deal To End Referee Lockout

Last updated on Thursday, September 27, 2012

(New York , NY) - The NFL and the NFL Referees Association reached a tentative agreement Wednesday night to end the referee lockout effective immediately.

Commissioner Roger Goodell confirmed early this morning that regular officials crews will begin working tonight in Baltimore for the Ravens and Browns contest.

Goodell and two federal mediators assisted in the two day marathon negotiating sessions between the league and the union, who were finally able to overcome the main points of contention in salary and pensions.

The 121 union members will begin voting on the deal Friday in Dallas. A 51-percent majority is required to ratify the agreement.
