Lyles And Five Relievers Combine To Shutout Cubs

Last updated on Wednesday, September 12, 2012

(Houston, TX) - The Houston Astros scored an unearned run in the third inning and that was enough to beat the Chicago Cubs 1-0.

Jimmy Paredes hit a one-out single in the third and advanced to third base on a throwing error by Cubs catcher Steve Clevenger.

Paredes would score the game's lone run on Justin Maxwell's sacrifice fly. Jordan Lyles allowed two hits over five innings, combining with five relievers on the shutout.

Lyles moves to 4-11.

Justin Germano surrendered the unearned run in his five innings of work to take the loss, dropping to 2-7.

The Cubs have a four-game winning streak come to an end.
