Last updated on Wednesday, September 12, 2012

(Fontana, CA) - The IZOD IndyCar Series season comes to an end Saturday night at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, California with the MAV TV 500.

An open test is scheduled for today in Fontana. Practice and qualifying will take place on Friday.

Will Power heads to the season finale with a 17-point lead over Ryan Hunter-Reay for the IndyCar Series championship.

Hunter-Reay is coming off a win in Baltimore two weeks ago.

Power lost three positions during the next-to-last lap at Baltimore, finishing sixth and leaving the door open for Hunter-Reay to overtake him.

The IndyCar Series has not raced on the two-mile oval since 2005 when Dario Franchitti won a 400-mile event.

The AJ Foyt Oval Track Championship is also on the line Saturday with Hunter-Reay and Tony Kanaan tied for first with James Hinchcliffe 15 points back in third place.

Power has already won the Mario Andretti Road Course Championship.
