Cardinals Clip Mets, Pick Up A Game On The Reds

(St. Louis, MO) - The St. Louis Cardinals picked up a game on the Reds in the N-L Central with their 5-4 win over the New York Mets.

Joe Kelly pitched into the seventh inning, allowing two runs on five hits to move to 5-6 on the season.

Matt Carpenter drove in a pair of runs with Skip Schumaker hitting his first home run of the season as the Redbirds pull to within eight and a half games of front-running Cincinnati.

Kelly Shoppach and Daniel Murphy hit two-run homers for the Mets, who had a three-game winning streak snapped.
