(Chicago, IL) - Chris Sale picked up his 13th win of the year and Gordon Beckham hit a go-ahead solo home run in the eighth as the Chicago White Sox got past the Kansas City Royals 4-2.

AJ Pierzynski gave the Sox a 1-0 lead in the second, but Kansas City came back with solo home runs from Jeff Francoeur in the fifth inning and Billy Butler in the seventh.

Chicago tied the game when Paul Konerko hit a solo shot off Royals starter Luis Mendoza in the bottom of the seventh.

Mendoza was still on the mound in the eighth when Beckham hit his go-ahead homer. Kevin Youkilis added an RBI double in the eighth.

Sale pitched eight innings, allowing two runs on eight hits to improve to 13-3. Mendoza takes the loss to drop to 5-8.

With the win, the Sox remain a game and-a-half ahead of Detroit in the AL Central.
