Donnie Avery Should Return To Action For The ColtsThis Weekend

Last updated on Wednesday, August 22, 2012

(Indianapolis, IN) - The Indianapolis Colts continue to get ready for Saturday afternoon’s preseason game with the Washington Redskins.

The Colts went with their standard training camp schedule on Tuesday, holding a walk-through in the morning and a full practice in the afternoon. Head coach Chuck Pagano and his staff are preparing for this game as they would for a regular season game.

Pagano plans on having his starters play the entire first half and open the third quarter in order to simulate a typical game-day halftime.

Pagano says wide receiver Donnie Avery should see his first preseason action on Saturday. Avery has been out since suffering a leg injury early in training camp. Avery was brought in to provide a deep threat to compliment Reggie Wayne.

He spent two seasons with the St. Louis Rams before playing for Tennessee last year.

Pagano also addressed receiver Austin Collie's latest concussion, saying they will be cautious in determining if and when he will return.

Collie suffered a pair of concussions in the 2010 season and Pagano says he will leave any decisions regarding Collie's future to the team's medical staff.

There were a pair of roster moves announced on Tuesday as the Colts have acquired cornerback Josh Gordy from the Rams in exchange for an undisclosed 2014 draft pick.

To make room on the roster, they waived linebacker Larry Lumpkin.
