Rookies Prepare For Pre-Camp

Last updated on Tuesday, July 24, 2012

(Indianapolis, IN) - Two Indianapolis Colts draft choices remain unsigned with the rookies scheduled to gather for three days of work at the team’s headquarters beginning tomorrow.

Tight ends Coby Fleener and Dwayne Allen, the team's second and third choices in last April's draft, remain without contracts. Fleener played at Stanford with the Colts' number-one overall selection - quarterback Andrew Luck. (Luck signed his contract late last week.)

Allen played collegiality at Clemson was the first of the Colts' two third-round picks.

Following this week's rookie pre-camp, all players will report to training camp at Anderson University on Saturday with the first workout scheduled for Sunday.

Luck will be the focus of training camp as he replaces Peyton Manning at quarterback. Manning, the only four-time MVP in NFL history, missed all of last season with a neck injury.

The Colts finished 2-and-14 in 2011, securing the number-one overall pick in the draft which they used on Luck. The Colts released Manning in March rather than pay him a 28-million-dollar option bonus and guarantee his contract for the next four seasons. Manning signed with the Denver Broncos shortly after being released.
