(Indianapolis, IN) - The Indiana Pacers reportedly have come to terms with restricted free agent guard George Hill on a five-year deal.
The Indianapolis Star reports that Hill will sign the new deal once the NBA's moratorium period ends on July 11th. Financial terms of the agreement are not immediately available.
The Pacers traded for the former Broad Ripple High School and IUPUI star on draft night in 2011 for Indiana's first-round draft choice.
Hill took over as the starting point guard late in the season when Darren Collison missed some time with an injury and kept the job throughout the postseason. Hill averaged 9.6 points and 2.9 assists per game last season, but those numbers jumped to 13.9 points and 5.3 assists in the nine games he started last season.
The Pacers are making contingency plans in case they lose their other restricted free agent - all star center Roy Hibbert.
Hibbert reportedly will be offered a max contract by the Portland Trail Blazers next Wednesday. That deal is believed to be in the five-year, 58-million-dollar neighborhood.
Several reports had the Pacers bringing in veteran center Chris Kaman on Monday. Kaman is an unrestricted free agent who would cost significantly less money to sign than Hibbert.
The nine-year veteran out of Central Michigan averaged 13.1 points and 7.7 rebounds for the New Orleans Hornets last season.
