Foyt Fined, Docked Points For Oversized Fuel Tank

Last updated on Wednesday, July 11, 2012

(UNDATED0 - AJ Foyt Enterprises has been fined 15-thousand dollars and docked ten entrant points for using an oversized fuel tank in driver Mike Conway’s car at Toronto’s IZOD IndyCar Series race last Sunday.

IndyCar Vice President of Technology Will Phillips says the discrepancy in the size of the fuel tank was great enough that it could have provided the Number-14 car a track position advantage.

The maximum capacity of the fuel cell is 18.5 gallons. There was no mention in the IndyCar Series release as to how large the fuel cell in Conway's car was at Toronto.

Conway finished third behind Ryan Hunter-Reay and Charlie Kimball.
