Colts Free Agents Remain Unsigned

Last updated on Wednesday, July 11, 2012

(Indianapolis, IN) - The start of Indianapolis Colts training camp is about two and-a-half weeks away and the team’s top-three draft picks remain unsigned.

Quarterback Andrew Luck, the number-one overall pick in last April's NFL draft, has received the most attention as theories for why he remains unsigned have been brought up and shot down by Colts owner Jim Irsay.

The new rookie wage scale included in the collective bargaining agreement approved last summer significantly reduces the leeway in negotiating Luck's deal.

Peyton Manning's replacement in Indianapolis is not expected to miss four days of his inaugural training camp like Manning did before signing his first contract in 1998.

Luck's Stanford University teammate Coby Fleener is also awaiting his first pro contract. Fleener, a tight end, was taken in the second round with the 34th-overall pick.

The final unsigned Colts draft choice is tight end Dwayne Allen, who was selected in the third round with the 34th-overall pick.

With the attention squarely focused on Luck, there has been little information regarding negotiations between the Colts and the agents for Fleener and Allen.
