Purdue Eliminated From NCAA Baseball Tournament

Last updated on Monday, June 4, 2012

(GARY, IN) - The Purdue Boilermakers were eliminated from NCAA college baseball tournament after suffering a 6-to-3 loss at the hands of the Kentucky Wildcats.

It was Purdue's second loss in two days, effectively finishing the top seeded Boilers' first college baseball tournament run since 1987.

Purdue had a two-to-nothing lead in the fourth inning until Kentucky poured on four runs, but the Boilers had a chance to tie it in the eighth after Cameron Perkins drove in Steven Talbott. That made it 5-to-3, but Purdue failed to capitalize on runners at first and second with only one out in the inning.

Purdue recorded their first loss of the double-elimination tournament Saturday against the Kent State Golden Flashes. The Valparaiso Crusaders and Indiana State Sycamores were also eliminated from the college baseball regionals after losing their second game on Saturday.
