Pacers Prepare For Upcoming NBA Draft

Last updated on Monday, June 25, 2012

(Indianapolis, IN) - The Indiana Pacers continue to get ready for Thursday night’s NBA Draft as several rumors swirl around the team.

One rumor involves the 26th-overall pick the Pacers possess and that the team would be willing to trade it and point guard Darren Collison to move up higher in the first round.

ESPN reported last week that New Orleans is interested in moving its number-ten pick for Indiana's package while Portland, which owns the number-six and number-eleven picks, is also interested in dealing for Collison.

The other questions involve the front office as team president Larry Bird is expected to meet with owner Herb Simon this week. Bird has been operating the last few seasons on year-to-year deals. He said last month that he anticipates returning for the upcoming season provided his meeting with Simon goes well.

Bird reportedly wants to shake up the front office by firing general manager David Morway and replacing him with current player personnel director Kevin Pritchard. Morway has not been seen at Bankers Life Fieldhouse as the team has worked out prospects for this week's draft.

One person who reportedly has been at some of those workouts is former CEO Donnie Walsh. The Indianapolis Star cited sources last week as saying that there is a possibility that Walsh will rejoin the Pacers in some capacity.
