Pacers Mull Over Upcoming Draft

Last updated on Wednesday, June 20, 2012

(Indianapolis, IN) - The Indiana Pacers have no players scheduled to work out today at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.

They have had five workouts so far as they evaluate the talent available in next Thursday's NBA Draft. Ball State's Jarrod Jones, Warsaw native Miles Plumlee and Syracuse center Fab Melo were among the six players working out on Tuesday.

The Pacers currently have the 26th-overall pick in the July 28th draft.

Brian Shaw remains associate head coach of the Pacers for the time being. The Charlotte Bobcats reportedly will announce the hiring of St. John's assistant Mike Dunlap as the team's new head coach today.

Last week, reports out of Charlotte said that Shaw, former Utah coach Jerry Sloan and Lakers assistant Quin Snyder were the finalists to replace Paul Silas as coach of the Bobcats. Sloan pulled his name out of the running late last week and team owner Michael Jordan brought Dunlap back for an interview on Monday after meeting with Shaw and Snyder last week.

Shaw is believed to be a candidate for Stan Van Gundy's old job with the Orlando Magic and could also be in the mix for the Portland Trail Blazers' vacancy.
