IndyCar Drops China From 2012 Schedule

Last updated on Thursday, June 14, 2012

(UNDATED) - In racing, IndyCar announced the cancellation of its IZOD IndyCar Series race scheduled for August 19th in Quingdao, China on Wednesday.

IndyCar CEO Randy Bernard announced the cancellation via a release yesterday morning. Bernard says that IndyCar is looking at a possible replacement race that would keep the IndyCar Series schedule at 16 races. He also says that the series is not closing the door on holding a future race in China.

The IndyCar Series invades Milwaukee this weekend for Saturday's Milwaukee IndyFest. Practice gets underway tomorrow morning at the Milwaukee Mile with another session scheduled for the afternoon before qualifying. The race is scheduled for Saturday afternoon.

Milwaukee returns to the IndyCar Series schedule after a two-year hiatus. Scott Dixon won in 2009, the last time the Series raced at the Milwaukee Mile.
