(Indianapolis, IN) - The Indianapolis Colts closed out their three-day mini-camp Thursday at the team’s headquarters.
Rookie quarterback Andrew Luck took the great majority of snaps on offense as he tries to get up to speed.
Rookies are permitted to get instruction from coaches at the complex through June 27th, but the veteran players are done until they report for training camp at Anderson University on July 28th.
Head coach Chuck Pagano says he's pleased with what the team has accomplished this offseason and says he is looking forward to a productive training camp.
The Colts are starting from scratch after last year's 2-and-14 season. They played the 2011 season without four-time league MVP Peyton Manning, who missed the entire season following neck surgery. After landing the number-one pick and the opportunity to draft Luck, the Colts jettisoned Manning, Team President Bill Polian, Head Coach Jim Caldwell and several key players from their Super Bowl teams.
Aside from Luck, the biggest change for the Horseshoes has been on defense where Pagano and defensive coordinator Greg Manusky are changing the scheme from a 4-3 to a hybrid 3-4. The new defense means that two of the Colts' remaining defensive stars - defensive ends Dwight Freeney and Robert Mathis - will be spending time this season as outside linebackers.
