Colts Pagano Impressed With Andrew Luck

Last updated on Wednesday, June 13, 2012

(Indianapolis, IN) - The Indianapolis Colts opened their final mini-camp of the year on Tuesday.

Much of the focus is on quarterback Andrew Luck, the number-one overall draft choice out of Stanford. Luck has the unenviable task of replacing Peyton Manning at quarterback for the Colts.

While the rookie threw a pair of interceptions during yesterday afternoon's second workout, he has impressed head coach Chuck Pagano and his teammates with his ability to pick up the playbook despite not having worked out with the team since rookie mini-camp in early May.

Several of the Colts' walking wounded from last season were on the sidelines during Tuesday's practices. The top two picks from last year - offensive linemen Anthony Costanzo and Ben Ijalana - sat out as they recover from offseason surgeries. Costanzo is nursing a foot injury while Ijalana is coming off ACL surgery. Both are expected to be ready for training camp in July.

Among those sidelined during Tuesday afternoon's practice were running back Delone Carter, rookies Josh Champman and TY Hilton and defensive lineman Drake Nevis.

The three-day camp continues this afternoon with a public practice at Lucas Oil Stadium. The mini-camp winds up on Thursday at the team's westside Indianapolis headquarters.
