Last updated on Thursday, April 12, 2012

(LONG BEACH, CA) - In auto racing, The IZOD IndyCar Series races through the streets of Long Beach, California this weekend.

Two practice sessions on the eleven-turn, 1.968-mile temporary course are scheduled for Friday with on more practice on Saturday before qualifying on Saturday afternoon. The race will take place on Sunday afternoon.

Mike Conway won last year's Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach while driving for Andretti Autosport. Conway is driving this season for AJ Foyt Enterprises.

Two teams will be penalized ten places on the starting grid at Long Beach for unapproved engine changes. The number-7 Lotus Dragon Racing team of Sebastien Bourdais and the number-27 Andretti Autosport team of James Hinchcliffe require new engines to be installed before this weekend's activities at Long Beach.

A new rule instituted by the series for this season does not allow teams to change engines until they have reached their mileage limit of 1,850 miles or they sustain a failure during a race.
